Tiki / Tropical Community

If you’re reading this post, it’s likely that you received my message offering my virtual assistant services. While most of my clients are authors and creators, I am familiar with our community. Hence a question I asked myself recently.

“Why aren’t I contacting people in the Tiki circles?”

Jen (opened mouth, with a hand against her head)

I created this post so you can easily pass it on to a business partner or hiring manager (and to prove my love for the community via photos). More or less, here’s the message you got from me.

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Jen, and I am writing to offer my services as a virtual assistant. I hope it is okay for me to reach out to you in this way.

As an avid (and respectful) fan of Tiki and Polynesian culture, Tiki mugs (and bars), and Exotica music, I can be a valuable asset to your team as a virtual assistant.

I am also familiar with the history and traditions of the people associated with our community. Beyond that, I’ve lived in Kauai, Hawaii for years (so many chickens).

I have found in my career that it takes a certain amount of focus to be truly effective at remote work – it goes well beyond simply “wanting” to stay in one’s home. There are a lot of those, then you have remote professionals. I am the latter.

To give an example, my home office is fully equipped for successful remote work, from a dedicated private space and up-to-date applications to modern equipment that doesn’t require dragging things around to attend a Zoom meeting. I have backup computers and secondary power sources in case anything happens.

In addition to a proper remote setup, I am quite capable of working independently. Self-motivation and taking initiative are necessary when working remotely, and I have honed these skills to a high level. I can be relied on to finish projects, and I am confident I would be a great addition to your team.

I have worked from home for over ten years and have virtually assisted numerous clients representing companies of all sizes. I live in Texas (CST), and am a fluent English speaker with conversational Spanish as well.

My last position was delivering administrative WordPress support to an international client base and providing personal assistance to their partners and top-level executive clients. I am familiar with time zone and dialect challenges, and am both patient and supportive when solving issues. Good time-management and organization skills have allowed me to take on multiple concurrent projects and meet time-sensitive deadlines with high-quality work.

I also have a lifetime of experience in multimedia applications of all flavors, and a prolific creative background. Writing, graphics, video… I’m familiar with it all.

If you are interested in my services, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to discuss how I can assist you further and provide you with more information about my background and experience.

Mahalo for your time,

Jen

My love for the community reaches from historical books about native peoples to modern interpretations (pop culture mugs and Disneyana). The shelves and lighting I did myself, and here’s some of my books on my shelf. I’ve moved my mugs around a bit, hence why you’ll see the same ones in different locations.
